::0320:: Reasons Why Today Sucks
1. Charlie, my adorable, sweet, loving dachshund, has heartworms.
What we are doing about it: I made some phone calls and we found a clinic who does the treatment pretty cheap. Unfortunately its still expensive (after all three shots, the blood work, and physical exam), coming out to be about $369. The guy at the clinic said that they have this thing called Care Credit, and that the payments are pretty reasonable. So I went to the website and signed up for one. Congratulations me, I have my first credit card. It has a credit limit of $500 (so far), which will cover the treatment. Phew.
2. Speaking of Charlie, since he has heartworms, the other things we had taken him to the vet for have to wait until he's better.
Huh? We had originally taken him into the vet to get a neuter done. Well, just before the procedure the doctor called me and said that she didn't feel comfortable doing the surgery until she knew for certain that he was clean. Now that we know he's not, he can't be put under anesthesia because it could kill him. Which means we have to wait two months while he undergoes heartworm treatment. The neuter can wait, he's just a little irritating as it is. Also, the vet mentioned that he really needs a teeth cleaning that can run up to over $100. So. After the heartworm treatment is all taken care of we still have to pay a further $300ish dollars for the neuter and the teeth cleaning. Oh joy, oh rapture, oh ecstasy.
3. All that to say, we have pretty much no money as of this moment.
So what does that mean for us? Well any of the fun things we wanted to do (costumes for Repo is one example) are pretty much out of the picture. Also, we're expected to have to put a down payment on a venus in less than two weeks, something which is not looking so good. From what I hear down payments can run up to $1000, which is a sum we most certainly can not afford. If the down payment is any more than 500 (even that is pushing it) then we're going to have to look at much smaller venus, which means trimming down the guest list and oh god.
4. Did I mention that Logan is (still) unemployed?
Woah, when did that happen? He got fired about three weeks ago, something which I neglected to mention on this journal, and has still not found a new job. Granted he doesn't have a working vehicle right now which seriously curbs most attempts to find employment and we managed to make rent this month, however a new month is approaching and what with everything Spencer and I have to pay for we really can't afford to pay Logan's portion as well. Obviously we may not have a choice, but at what expense? He managed to get a shift yesterday with a security firm that our friend Greg works for under the table, which got him about $120. If he manages to get any more then we'll probably be okay, but who knows what we'll happen because he doesn't have a vehicle.
Today? Not good. Not good at all.
